SOY in Cougar Country

Tami and I were glad to be back at Crockett HS today with our SOY materials.  With a single lunch period, it was busy at the table, and it was great to talk with the students who came by to see the literature, try the stencil art, spin the peace wheel and find out what we were all about.  Thanks, Cougars!

Pull-ups for Peace at Travis HS

Today, Tami, Derrick and I had a SOY table at Travis HS.  In addition to the Peace Wheel of Fortune, the stenciling project and the literature, we brought the chin-up bar and invited students to do pull-ups for peace.  After all, peacemaking takes strength and courage!  Several students took us up on the invite, and I think the record for the day was 16 in a row.  That's PeaceStrong!
We appreciated talking with all students, teachers and other school staff who stopped by the table.

We added Malala to the peace wheel.  One student said he had learned about her in his world history class.

Often students think our things are for sale, so we want to reassure them that everything is free.

Making Art, Not War at Bowie HS

Tami and I enjoyed being at Bowie HS today during the lunches with our SOY table and materials.  As always, students were very creative with the art supplies, and a number of students took advantage of our military reality fliers, Americorps brochures, the Peace Wheel of Fortune and other info about nonviolent alternatives to war and militarism.  Thanks, Bulldogs!

October SOY table at LBJ/LASA HS

Tami and I appreciated tabling in Jaguar country today.  Thanks to students and staff who came by the table to take literature about military realities and alternatives to military service, learn about peacemakers they may not have known and make some art on the spot.
